Hey there, dessert lovers! I'm Shannon — the baker and sprinkle-slinger behind SweetConfectShan. Today, I am absolutely thrilled to kick off this blog and share my love for baking with you. If you've ever found yourself lost in the world of sugar, flour, and butter, you're definitely in the right place!
In this first post, I'll give you a behind-the-scenes look at what inspired me to start SweetConfectShan and what you can expect in my upcoming posts. Get ready for seasonal treat ideas, helpful baking tips, and maybe a chuckle or two from my kitchen fails. Let’s dive in!
The Sweet Beginning
Every story has a starting point, and mine began in my parents’ kitchen — usually with flour in my hair and frosting on my fingers. I was always the kid who wanted to help stir the bowl, sneak a taste, and, of course, claim the spatula.
For me, baking has never just been about the recipe — it’s about creating little moments of joy and comfort. There’s something magical about turning a few simple ingredients into something that makes people smile.
That love (plus a whole lot of butter) led me to study Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales and eventually start SweetConfectShan — where I get to bring your sweet ideas to life and share mine along the way.

This blog is my cozy little corner of the internet — where I’ll be sharing what I’m baking, learning, messing up (because, yes, things do explode sometimes), and celebrating.

Ever wonder what really goes into making a cake or pastry? Spoiler: it’s not always as neat as it looks on Instagram. (oops) In upcoming posts, I’ll be sharing a behind-the-scenes look at my kitchen chaos — from baking videos and step-by-step tutorials to the real-life wins and fails.
I’m talking all of it — the good, the messy, and the extra-sprinkly. Like that one time I baked a whole batch of cupcakes… and forgot the eggs. Yup. We’ve all been there.
